The (then) famous comic actors Ed Wynn and Jerry Colonna voiced the Mad Hatter and the March Hare (respectively) in Mr. Disney's 1951 animated movie of Alice in Wonderland. The two performers were filmed so the animators could study their gestures and expressions but it was generally assumed that these were separate duties; that they recorded their voices in one session and acted out the scenes in another.
