This is an astounding thing — the audio of a speech that Hal Roach, the great producer of early film comedies, gave at U.C.L.A. on November 30, 1970. Why is this so astounding? Because I was attending U.C.L.A. in November of 1970 and I never heard about this. I would have been the first one there had I known and I would have monopolized the microphone asking questions. I did get to meet Mr. Roach and ask him a lot of things some years later but it amazes me that he came to my school, gave a talk in front of what seems to have been a large audience and I'm only finding out about it now.
