If you're not tired of reading about Hurricane Katrina — and I could sure understand if you were — you might want to take a look at Brendan Loy's weblog for the days leading up to the storm's assault on the Gulf Coast. I don't know Mr. Loy but it says he's a second-year law student at Notre Dame with a bit of amateur expertise on weather. He tracked Katrina on his blog and it's interesting to read how it developed.
