I am writing this, following a double root canal which commenced this morning with my dentist actually saying, "This will not be pleasant but it'll be better than watching the Oscars." He was wrong (I didn't dislike the Oscars) but the running time for the two events was about the same, and I shed as many tears as Halle Berry.
