As you may recall, the music group called Big Daddy (loved by many, including me) is staging a Kickstarter campaign to raise $35,000 to produce their new album. I would like to see them do this and have already backed and backed-up…but it doesn't look good. With one week to go, they're presently at $15,297…so less than half the way there.
Please go there and at least back them at the $25 level. This is not much of a gamble on your part. If they don't make the 35 G's, your credit card will not be charged. If they do, it will but you'll wind up receiving a CD that I bet you'll love and will be proud to have helped happen. Here is an article in the L.A. Times that will tell you more about them and this project.
And if you aren't familiar with Big Daddy, go to their website where most of what they ever recorded is available for your online listening.
I first became aware of Big Daddy when I was shopping in Golden Apple, the comic book shop up on Melrose here in Los Angeles. This was their old location on Melrose, not to be confused with their current location on Melrose or even their older location on Melrose. A Big Daddy album was playing in the store and it was wonderful. I ran up to Bill Liebowitz, my friend who owned Golden Apple and who also worked for Rhino Records, the releaser of Big Daddy. I said, "What are we listening to and how do I get a copy?" He told me and like Barry Allen on speed, I was instantly off to the record (yes, record) store down the block. I bought 'em all, then began going to see these guys when they performed live, as they used to do. They were even better in person than they were on the albums. They also turned out to be very nice guys…another reason you should back their Kickstarter.
You see, I'm a nice guy and they're nice guys and you…well, I assume you're a nice guy or even a nice gal. I see a lot of names on the Big Daddy backer list that I know read this site and they're all nice people. Join us other nice people and make this one happen. That is, if you really are nice…
